Their is evidence of this everywhere..<br /><br />Lack of arbitration offers, for some big names...<br />Lack of spending at this point...<br />Reported contract offers...<br />Greater players <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">receiving</span> lesser contracts than worse players got last year...<br /><br />I doubt anyone would argue that the Yankees would mind paying Andy <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Pettite</span> 16 <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">million</span> dollars if it translated to 16 million dollars worth of wins. So why not offer him a base salary for the reported ten million they offered and add higher <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">incentives</span> in the contract?<br /><br />split the other 7 million <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">amongst</span> performance stats (era, k/9, <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">QS</span>, ratio or hits to innings, <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">IP</span>) and the all star game and awards....<br /><br />Other teams should employ similar options..<br /><br />Would the Manny <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">Ramierz</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">receive</span> 6 years if the last two years were options that were <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">activated</span> by plate <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_12">appearances</span>? or games played?<br /><br />I think his chances increase if a team would only have to <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_13">guaranteeing</span> M<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_14">anny</span> 20 million annually for the next 6 years if they were <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_15">guaranteed</span> he would be healthy for the duration of the contract.<br /><br />The only issue here would be that M<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_16">anny</span> would <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_17">probably</span> like to see more green<br />( and rightfully so, having the man on the field generates the team plenty of money) than that if he was to continue to play over 6 years. But <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_18">that's</span> easily solved...<br /><span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_19">Incentives</span><br />If Manny & <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_20">Boras</span> are dreaming about 150 million over the next 6 years why not settle for 120 million <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_21">guarantee</span> if your <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_22">incentives</span> could bring the deal to lets say 180 million??<br /><br />I m sure no team would complain about having Manny at any price if he is producing through the roof.<br /><p><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_23">obp</span> is plus 400 and is smashing 50 hrs and winning <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_24">mvp</span> awards left and right...<br /></p><br />What do you think?SO Much Powerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02371630546996577285noreply@blogger.com0
